Chair of the CUBIC management committee.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with partner institutions and external stakeholders.
Develop and promote the Centre as a research facility within the University, as well as nationally and internationally, engaging with both academic and non-academic partners.
Represent CUBIC at University events and strategic meetings.
Collaborate with the local team and management committee to develop and implement operational policies, ensuring compliance with research, financial, EDI, clinical, and procurement frameworks, as well as Royal Holloway’s policies.
Strategically manage and engage with other Principal Investigators where appropriate.
Liaise with non-MRI scientists to identify possible uses of MRI methods in their research and future grant applications.
Identify training opportunities for CUBIC leadership team and technical staff.
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Centre in consultation with CUBIC partners. This includes developing and reviewing research and investment plans, attracting new research fellows, fostering the career development of existing researchers, and ensuring key performance targets are met.
Actively pursue grant funding aligned with CUBIC and the departmental strategic objectives and priorities.
Initiate, plan, and oversee applications to internal and external funding sources for infrastructure and facilities.
Monitor all relevant bids and project proposals involving the Centre to ensure feasibility and adherence to the agreed research and investment strategy.
Target research efforts towards strategically important populations, conditions, and cognitive domains.
Serve as an approved user of the MRI scanner.
Support development and implementation of imaging techniques that leverage the capabilities of the new high-gradient CUBIC MRI scanner.
Support MRI researchers in experimental design, optimisation, analysis, and dissemination through formal (e.g., seminars or workshops) and informal channels (ad-hoc advice).
Host regular MRI support drop-in sessions.
Share updates on technical and scientific developments in MRI via CUBIC communication channels (e.g., Teams).
Engage in continuous professional development in acquisition and analysis (e.g., pulse sequence programming).
Liaise with central IT/Cluster Lead on IT infrastructure and data management to ensure computing infrastructure, storage, and software meet CUBIC’s current and future needs/expansion.
Collaborate with Director in establishing connections with external institutions and support national/international harmonisation efforts in MRI (e.g., around microstructural imaging, data sharing initiatives).
Support MRI-related grant proposals and publications.
Write SOPs on data processing and analysis methods.
Serve as an approved user of the MRI scanner.
Coordinate departmental neuroscience meetings.
Support the technical lead in MRI design, QA and analysis, and dissemination.
Foster positive working culture through communications and community events.
Manage CUBIC Teams channels, mailing lists, and other communication platforms, and support the Director in identifying new ways for MRI scientists to work together more effectively.
Identify opportunities for network building across the partner institutions, including supporting the organisation and promotion of the CUBIC conference.
Develop procedures for the recruitment of MRI participants and establishment of a community participant database.
Share updates on technical and scientific developments in MRI via CUBIC communication channels.
Maintain the CUBIC wiki and encourage method/knowledge sharing.
Work with the departmental Public Engagement Lead to develop an inclusive outreach and engagement program that connects the Centre with relevant stakeholders in the local community and beyond.
Support MRI-related grant proposals and publications.
