Joe Bathelt has kindly supplied detailed instructions for how to run software in a containerised environment. This is useful if you want to run software that isn't supported on the system you're running on (e.g. the cluster, or a high performance computer) or requires libraries or toolboxes that aren't installed. You can also set up a container to run on your own PC, and then easily port it to a high performance computing platform without having to worry about the right software being installed on that platform.
